- Justin Trudeau has urged Canadians to shop locally this week, as Small Business Week begins. The event which lasts until Saturday is designed to boost smaller stores and help promote them.
- This year it has taken on greater significance as the effects of the pandemic have caused many small business to suffer financially or close. Because of this, the event this year is mostly digital, with many small businesses urged to make the jump to online via different platforms and schemes and begin ecommerce trading
- Research by the Business Development Bank of Canada found that many Canadian entrepreneurs are changing their priorities to take advantage of the growth in ecommerce. This corresponds with a change in shopper attitude across the country, with more and more people buying online
